Volunteers For Animals is always in need of monetary donations for the animals at the Genesee County Animal Shelter. Our largest expense is veterinary care for sick and injured animals. A great deal of our money is spent spaying and neutering as many animals as possible BEFORE they leave the Shelter. Spaying and neutering animals is the ONLY way to reduce the number of homeless animals. In addition to vet care, we also purchase FIV/FeLV tests for cats and heartworm tests for dogs. Please consider making a donation today. All donations to Volunteers For Animals, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, are tax-deductible.

BRING US YOUR EMPTIES!

Volunteers For Animals is collecting returnable pop/beer/water cans and bottles to help raise money for the animals. Bring in your empties and we will return them for you. Or you can take them directly to Rob’s Bottle and Can at 214 Ellicott Street in Batavia (Hours are M-F 9-5 and Saturday 9-2) OR Easttown Beverages on East Main Street in Batavia. Just tell them that they are for Volunteers For Animals and they will do the rest! All of the money collected from the deposits will go directly towards helping the animals at the Shelter.

		Volunteers For Animals now has a Paper Retriever dumpster located outside the Shelter to collect paper for recycling. We earn money from all the paper collected. Please consider leaving these items to help out the animals. Click here to view the Do's and Don't List of items that can be recycled.

We now have an eBay Store where you can purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry, other donated items, and make donations. We are excited about this new venture and hope it will help the animals even more. Keep checking the store for new items as we continue to grow.

Donations are needed for our eBay Store. Think of us as you clean out your house and closets! Items can be dropped off at the GCAS. Best selling items are those that are NEW or near new, but we have sold many used items. Here are some of the new items we have sold so far: name brand clothing, slippers, sweatshirts, t-shirts, keychains, appliances with original box, ornamental clocks, angel statues, picture frames, pet collars and harnesses, pet toys and pet beds. Used items include: name brand clothing, boots, small toys, Longaberger baskets, Christmas ornaments, Beanie Babies, books, baby clothes and wall hangings. Homemade items that have sold include: Sock monkeys, Sock cats, knitted shawls and cat/dog blankets.

Items that do not sell will be put into our annual summer garage sale.

	TO HELP THE ANIMALS AT THE SHELTER CONSIDER GIFT CARDS FROM GENESEE FEEDS 3860 West Main Street Road Batavia, NY (across from the Shelter) This enables us to purchase items that are desperately needed depending on current circumstances at the Shelter. We use these gift cards for items such as mother’s milk for kittens, special dog or cat food for sick animals, kitten and puppy food, and cedar chips for the dog runs. All of these items are needed regularly and can be difficult to keep on hand in the Shelter. Thank you for considering this flexible donation option.

	Our dogs (AND CATS!) love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog or cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog or cat bed.

POST FOR THE PAWS

The purpose of "POST FOR THE PAWS" is to highlight particular animals available for adoption at the Genesee County Animal Shelter. Each week a cat and a dog are featured in a poster that is e-mailed out to everyone on the e-mail list. Recipients are asked to print out at least one copy of the poster and choose a public place to post it each week. With minimal effort we can help raise the profile of both the featured animals and the other animals at the Shelter. Currently we have about 300 people we e-mail the poster to each week. If you would like to be on the e-mail list, please drop a note to the following address: vol4animals@yahoo.com 

Or simply print a copy from the website page: Post for the Paws. We will not use your e-mail address for anything other than shelter information and it will not appear on the posting.

The Genesee County Meals on Wheels Program has started a Meals for Pets Program along with Genesee Feeds.

It is another way to help the animals at the Shelter.
